Collection: Chain & Multifunctional vessels

Exploring the traditional techniques of chain making and Kurinuki ceramic carving.

Amy's work is very technique lead, and her fascination with ancient techniques and exploration since completing her MA in 2021 has lead to this new, multifunctional collection of jewellery and sculpture. Mainly exploring the historical chain making technique of loop in loop and Japanese carving technique of Kurinuki.

Stoneware clay is carved from the lump to create these detailed vessels using the traditional Japanese carving technique of Kurinuki. An item of jewellery has then been create to compliment and become part of the vessel making each piece a wearable object for you and your home. Each ceramic object is glazed in copper oxide, and the metalwork predominantly sterling silver.

This collection is designed to bridge the connection between body and home. As humans, we create a base for ourselves, wether that be our home or a family one, that we more often than not slot seamlessly back into at the end of our days. No matter the home, we feel connection to a space. These objects blur the lines between decorative and wearable, allowing the owner to take a piece away to wear for the day, to then return to the object as if it never left. Both the jewellery and ceramic are equal in beauty, wether together or apart.
